Ana Rieper
Ana Rieper is a documentary filmmaker and partner at Paladina Filmes.
Her second feature documentary I’ll Raffle off My Heart”, was released in 2012 and awarded best Film at the London Brazilian Film Festival and In Edit São Paulo; best director and best editing at Fest Cine Goiania; and received the Special Fipresci award and best art direction at Atlantidoc (Uruguay). The film was also presented at the Brasilia Film Festival, Guadalajara International Film Festival, Cinelatino – Rencontres de Cinéma Toulouse. And has generated a series of co-produced TV with Cable Channel Canal Brazil.
Her first feature documentary, Na Veia do Rio (2002) was officially selected by many festivals, including FICA (Environmental International Film Festival), Doc Lisboa, forumdoc.bh and Sasà Awards – Italy.
She directed some shorts, including the awarded Saara (1998), Veluda (2005) and Mataram Meu Gato (2006).
Co-directed with other 4 directors the feature documentary 5x Chico, about the São Francisco river, theatrically released in 2015 after a successful career in festivals worldwide.
In 2018 the documentary Clementina, about the praised African-Brazilian singer, written and directed by Ana, was released in festivals such as São Paulo Intl. Film Festival and Cinelatino – Rencontres de Cinéma de Toulouse.
In 2021 the TV series she wrote, directed and produced, Feminine Nature, about ecology and gender in Brazil, was exhibited at CineBrasilTV.
Ana is presently finishing the feature documentary Nothing Like Before – the Music of Clube da Esquina and preparing Tropical Paradise, about the colonial heritage in contemporary Brazil, both written and directed by her.
